Eligibility

Students and Staff of The Australian National University

Due to unprecedented demand for services, there needs to be a blanket restriction on access to the Health Service.

Students are bulk billed through either Medicare (Australian students) or Overseas Student Health Cover (International Students). ANU Staff are charged at a discounted rate.

Spouses and children of International Students are also eligible for bulk billed services under OSHC.

Spouses and children of Australian students or staff who share a Health Care Card with the student or staff member will also be eligible for bulk billing.

"Others" will be seen only if there is a defined link to the ANU - Examples of those that would be seen are:

  • Visiting academics officially visiting the ANU (not just Canberra) for a finite period. Full fee will apply.

Examples of those that would be denied access (except in an emergency) would be:

  • Members of the public
  • Campus workers not employed by the ANU
  • Boyfriend/girlfriend of a current patient ("just visiting the ANU")
  • Child of a staff member or student (other than overseas students or student/staff with a Health Care Card).
