Head of Research Strategy

Erica is the Head of Research Strategy for the ANU College of Health and Medicine (CHM).

Erica has more than 20 years’ experience spanning all levels of government, the private and not-for-profit health sectors in Australia, and is known for her passion for evidence-based policy development and research praxis.

She has worked for more than a decade in Commonwealth Health, during which she has been Assistant Secretary for a range of Ministers and national portfolios including Digital Health Policy, Health and Medical Research, National Program Grants, Primary Health Care Policy, and Hospital Services Information. She was instrumental in establishing the Medical Research Future Fund and Biomedical Translation Fund and worked with states to position Australia as a preferred destination for clinical trials.

As CHM Head of Research Strategy, Erica enhances ANU medicine, population health and psychology research from discovery to translation in collaboration with key academic, industry, government and consumer stakeholders and funders. As member of the CHM Research Committee she has an integral role in advising and assisting the development of research strategy, and policy and programs to benefit all Schools within the College. She is currently leading a strategic program of work for the College which will advance the health of our nations, future-proof the College and pursue an agenda that repositions and sustainably grows health and medicine at ANU.

Erica has a Masters in Environmental Health at York University.
